Hiroshima/Ehime areas

Miyajima
It developed as the temple town centering around Itsukushima Shinto Shrine. It is know as one of three most scenic spots in Japan

Visitors will be deeply moved and vividly impressed with them. Opening hours:6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.(subject to change seasonally) throughout year. Admission fees:300yen per person
Inno-shima

The water castle, uncommon one in Japan, has been restored to its original state and exhibits historical materials including armors, articles left by the deceased and ancient writings.

On the last Saturday and Sunday of August, Kohaya race and Chouraku Dance will be held recalling Innnoshima Kurakami Water Forces.
9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. It is closed on Thursday. Admission fees are 310 yen per person.

Ikuchi-jima
The island is full of arts as a whole island museum, centering on Kouzanji Temple & Hirayama Kunio Memorial House.

Yuge-jima
It was known as “good-quality salt-producing manor” for Touji Temple in medieval Japan
Kujiyama
Yuge-jima is located around the center of Seto Inland Sea area and small island with 19.7 Km in circumference. Kujiyama is located on the south of the island where Kujiyama ancient tombs, cultural asset registered in the list by the village authority. It is only 142 m high above the sea level, but you can enjoy the beauty of many islands of Seto Inland Sea.
Iwaki-jima
It is known as “Blue Lemon Island and a lot of citrus are grown. It is the island where the headquarters of the island of Matsuyama domain was established.

You can get glimpse of the history and touch of the home town of rich merchants of Matsuyama feudal domain.

Omi-shima
The largest island in the district including Hiroshima, Kouchi & Ehime. It is called Island of God or Island of Treasure because of existence of Oyama Tuminokami Shirine containing many national treasures of Armouries

The museum is located next to the shrine where you can see national treasure class armouries. It includes suits of armor for female warriors which were decorated with splendid red or gold handiworks. (You can enjoy individually without any guide because of detail explanation in English.) The gigantic camphor tree, 2600 years old, is a must for visitors..
The treasure house is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and open throughout the year,. Admission fee is 1.000 yen.
Osakikami-jima
It used to be the key point for shipping traffic because of the natural good port.It is the resort island where you can enjoy swimming, tangerine hunting, spring spa, fishing and views of wide variety of islands.
Street in Kie- districtStreet in Kie- district
Tenjin street in the Kie district remains old street reminding Japanese of eras of Taisho and Showa.
Two or three story wooden merchant houses and inns stand along the street.
The intricate design of outside of houses create unique flavors. Near-by Kie port is famous for stand-by one for tide or wind because of natural environment.

Hakata-jima
It has been called “Island of Salt” because of active salt industry. It is located almost in the center of islands of Hiroshima, Ehime and Kagawa Prefectures and prosperous with marine transportation business& ship-building.

Hakatajima-Ooshima Big Bridge commands a view including Michika Island, U Island, Nou Island and Niwatori Isles nearby. There flows torrents of tide.
The narrow distance between islands make the current more severe and render sufferings to sailors.
Therefore, it was called hunaori seto (literally means that straits break ships into pieces)
Oo-shima
The entrance at the side of Shikoku of Shimanami highway is connected with Imahari by Kijima Strait Bridge. This island used to be the headquarter of Murakami Water Forces.

Kagawa Area

Naoshima
Since the establishment of steel and iron smelter in the era of Taisho (1912-1926), it developed rapidly and now island which is considered one blessed with high culture due to opening of Benesse House.

(formerly called Benesse Contemporary Art Museum) is managed by the Benesse Corporation, a company that specializes in the field of education, and it offers an atmosphere that inspires creativity.
One artist who has taken advantage of this artistic space is Tadao ANDO, one of the most famous architects in the world. It would not be an exaggeration to say that he designed the island itself, based on the concept “Coexistence of Nature, Architecture and Art”.

Onakijima
It is called “ Onigashima, Island of Devil” because of a gigantic grotto on a hillside in the island and poplar among a lot of visitors. It is beautifully blessed with white sand and green pines.

This grotto was discovered in 1931 and it has an area of 4000 ? and 400m in depth. It includes the waiting room for guards of demon, the big hall and living rooms where demons described in the legend about “The Peach Boy” lived. You can enjoy millet dumplings at the souvenir shop. Bus runs from the port.
Ferry boats run 5 to 12 times. 20 minutes from Takamatsu Port to Onaki Port.

Shodoshima
This island is well known for the novel located in the isaland and Olive , the symbol of peace. The existence of hot spring is not well-known.
Kankakei GorgeKankakei Gorge
This valley boast the most beautiful landscape in Japan including fresh green leaves in spring, a cerulean sky in summer, colored leaves in autumn and deep silence in winter.
I t has 20 scenic spots including 12 front landscapes and 8 back ones. 5 minute ride on the ropeway through strangely shaped rocks, with a view of valley below. 5 minutes from Kusakabe Port by car. 60 minutes from Takamatsu Port to Tonosho Port by ferry boat.
